People who never saw football before the prem will find it hard to believe most games were not televised. What's the best goal you've only ever seen the one time ?.I've got two that spring to mind,

1.Ray Stewart at home to Tottenham, NYD 82 or 83,a volley from outside the box,South Bank end,hit Clemences arm and shot into the roof of the net.

2,Mark Ward free kick at Oxford 85/86 season.

The Ray Stewart one against Spurs went like a bullet from an angle by the west side if I remember. May have beaten Clemence at the near post.
Another one I remember is Pop Robson against Sunderland in the late 70's. Breakaway goal cleared up the right wing. A cross from the right and Pop hit it first time from about 20 yards curled it in to the corner beating the keeper all ends up in the South bank goal. I was right behind it from the North Bank. Brendan Ormsby one i remember . He was about 35 yards out

I think some of you old gits are missing the point….the goal you are remembering has no visual recording of it….if it’s on YouTube then……

Peter Lorimer against us in 1967: judge for yourselves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZONNv8L6hU
The goal move starts at 18:47, and involves 3 late great Leeds players - Hunter, Bremner and (of those 3, the only one I liked) Lorimer.

That shot was typical Lorimer but the hardest shot I ever saw was Jonny Metgod against us in 1986: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XysTzt--ik

This was one of my favourites. I was with my brother and father in law who were both Aresnal fans in the North Bank at Highbury. I really wasn't expecting much from this game (we finished bottom that season). Then Mike Small pulls out this wonder goal. Shame I couldn't celebrate though! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPFXDmq3sks&ab_channel=DanielCoker

Julian hit a screamer against Oxford when we were struggling a bit at home once, it was really windy and he hit it pure into the bottom corner, North Bank end.

Might have been 89

My old man talks about the best header he has ever seen... late 50's we had a forward called Vic Keeble... as my Dad used to call him the Rocker... oppo' keeper had the ball belted it up field low and hard... Keeble apparently just stood there and connected with it 30+ yards out and sent the header over the keepers head.... like my old man said quite a feat in those days with those medicine balls

Liam Brady away at Derby where he curls in a beauty into the top corner past Peter Stilton.

Paul Ince away at Villa running the length of the pitch and smashing one in.

Cottee’s scissor kick at home to Forest and also Leroy’s diving header also at home to Forest.

I see Francois Van Der Elst gets a mention, does anyone remember his breakaway 3-2 winner at Highbury c ‘82 , another run from the half way line .
Lee Chapman was getting absolutedly berated by the left half of their North Bank that we weren’t occupying .

Re: One for us 50/60 year olds
This is going way back, but - as I remember it - it was the Boxing Day 1963 game we lost 8-2 to Blackburn at home. Johnny Byrne scored a goal when he beat (to my 10 year old mind) about 6 players. Blackburn were top of the league and I think this might have been an equaliser, so I was feeling pretty pleased with how we were doing. Until they scored 7 more.

Leeds at home c1973 Brooking turned Hunter and Charlton inside out and in the same movement whipped in a cross to the near post where Pop Robson back headed over Harvey in goal
‘Twas a thing of great beauty but not on TV

Baseball ground, pitch was like a ploughed field…we were up there with Derby and Sir Trev pulls that one out of the bag

We ended up losing 2-1 but what a strike

The Ray Stewart goal wasn't a volley

I was at that game

He hit it from the sideline near the West Side, went like an Exocet missile in to the top corner of the South bank goal

I remember a Alan Dickens goal that was pure sublime. A Brooking replica. Can't recall who it was against but I think he got two and Cottee got one . Maybe it was with Bobby Barnes in the team too,Was it a 4-1 win...Jonny Lyall was the manager and we had a load of inuries, thus the younsgters
